In September 2017 the Danish municipality of Roskilde installed a Skyline solar cell column at a traffic calmed zone at the driveway to the Danish town of Grundsømagle.
The Roskilde Municipality has chosen to place a 6 meter high, self-sufficient solar cell column as an alternative to traditional lighting, because there was no access to a 230V electricity network in close vicinity.
This solution is a so-called Plug n ‘Play solution, where everything is mounted at the factory ready for the burial of the supplied concrete foundation. The battery box with a 2,4 KWh battery capacity is located underground, next to the column to ensure easy access to the battery.
The column is fitted with 12 solar panels with a total maximum of 264Wp. The solar panels are installed vertically with four strings of 3 panels. The panels are facing south. The north side of the column consists of anodized aluminium.
The LED luminaire is of the type Siteco SL10 Mini which has a brightness of 1520 lumens at the maximum level.
Energy production and lighting management are carried out by the PRIESS LCC control system. The advanced technology of the The PRIESS LCC ” harvests” most of the solar panel´s energy during daytime and ensures the correct turn on and turn off of the LED luminaire during the changing seasons.
